An inscription on the wall seems to be the first of a series of riddles leading the way to a treasure. If you follow each clue you might be able to find it.
Riddle Riches is a side quest discovered by the player by following a series of cryptic plaques. The first plaque can be found in an entrance hall directly above the Potions Classroom, though it might be easier to find it by going to the Great Hall, exiting into a courtyard, and then crossing the bridge in the far left corner. The plaque, and a student investigating it, can then be found on the left (the student is at x=769, y=65, z=184).

How to Complete the Task[]
Second Clue[]
The answer is The Ravenclaw Common Room. If you have not yet found The Ravenclaw Common Room, check this page for directions to the common room. The plaque can be found in the entrance stairwell next to the sitting area (x=785, y=129, z=156).
Third Clue[]
This plaque can be found in the Gryffindor Common Room. If you have not yet found The Gryffindor Common Room, check this page for directions to the common room. The plaque is immediately to your right after climbing the stairs (x=716, y=135, z=305).
Fourth Clue[]
This plaque is in the Slytherin Common Room. If you have not yet found The Slytherin Common Room, check this page for directions to the common room. If you face the entrance to the common room, the plaque will be on the right (x=705, y=21, z=288).
Fifth Clue[]
The Hufflepuff Common Room. If you have not yet found The Hufflepuff Common Room, check this page for directions to the common room. The plaque is in the lower, plant-filled area. If you turn away from the fireplace, you will see a piano. The plaque is on the left (x=808, y=18, z=151).
Treasure[]
The treasure is in the Astronomy Tower, near the very top. Fly with a broom if you wish, but if you climb the stairs, ignore the Astronomy classroom with its starry wallpaper and continue climbing the main stairs to the next landing (not the one after). Fans of the Harry Potter films will recognize this as the place Harry hid during the climax of Half-Blood Prince. There is a barred-off section in the opposite corner. The plaque can be found to the right of it (x=720, y=171, z=138). The large chest contains three Monster Book of Monsters, while the small chest contains your actual rewards.
